Architectural & Topographic Surveys, 3D Scanning
Geometric and physical knowledge of existing conditions forms the foundation of every design, restoration, and property diagnostics process. Studio Protasi integrates traditional surveying methodology with state-of-the-art 3D digital acquisition technologies.
These services are delivered both as part of comprehensive assignments commissioned directly to the Studio and as specialized consulting and support integrated into the workflows of other professional firms.
Utilising a combined approach of high-precision topographic instruments (Total Stations and GNSS/GPS systems), 3D Laser Scanners, and drones for aerial photogrammetry, the Studio executes high-resolution surveys for developments of any scale and complexity.
Our key intervention areas include:
- Architectural Surveys of Standard & Heritage Buildings: Detailed acquisition for residential, industrial, historical complexes, and heritage-listed structures protected by the Soprintendenza. Delivery of floor plans, elevations, sections, and geometric-structural analysis supporting restoration and integrated design projects.
- Topographic Surveys & Land Mapping: Drafting of contour maps, digital terrain models (DTM/DEM), boundary surveys, construction staking, and analytical accounting of earthworks and excavation volumes (including measurement for quarrying and mining operations).
- Point Clouds & 3D Laser Scanning: High-density 3D digital capture for the accurate documentation of complex geometries, heritage assets, and structural elements, ensuring a millimetric dataset for due diligence and executive design.
- Cadastral & Design Support: High-precision technical deliverables ready for integration into BIM/CAD workflows, cadastral alignment, or property asset management.
Operating methodology
Surveys are conducted not merely as graphical drawings, but as a thorough geometric and analytical diagnosis of the structure. Studio Protasi delivers rigorous, coordinated, and directly actionable technical documentation for subsequent architectural, structural, and construction phases.
